Client Protection
Your client has a lot on their plate with life, in general, which comes with it’s own stresses. Adding a lawsuit into the mix ramps up the stress mentally, physically, and financially.
Perhaps your client is in an abusive relationship and took the brave, yet dangerous, step to approach your firm to divorce their partner. Your client in this moment is potentially risking their life to escape. With interpersonal violence, the abuser needs control. Surveillance is one method.
Depending on the lawsuit, the opposing party may launch smear/disinformation campaigns online against your client in attempts to ruin their reputation.
The opposing party, or those associated with them, may attempt to gain unauthorized access to your client’s devices and accounts. This is achieved through social engineering campaigns, exploiting software/hardware vulnerabilities, or gaining physical access to devices due to lapses in security measures.
Everything we mentioned, up to this point, may continue once the lawsuit reaches it’s conclusion.
If a client feels they may experience blowback before they file a suit, they need to act proactively.
Bsquared Intel’s Client Protection service helps protect your clients before, during, and after a law suit. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Helping them secure devices and accounts
- Bolstering their privacy
- Collecting/preserving online evidence [link to service]
- Education/training

Challenges the Client Faces
Whether it’s the case itself and/or an abusive relationship, there are several things your client needs to contend with.
- Digital threats: This includes things like someone trying to break into your client’s email accounts, or monitoring their devices, or gaining unauthorized access to their online accounts.
- Online harassment: You client may experience threats and smear campaigns to intimidate them, or ruin their reputation, or credibility. This may come in the form of social media posts or fake websites.
- Evidence collection: Your client may need to collect evidence of threats and harassment campaigns.
- Surveillance concerns: Your client may potentially deal with having their location tracked through the use of Apple AirTags or Amazon Tiles. Stalkerware is another issue where the abuser, or other hostile party, can listen in on conversations, see your client’s location, or view text messages and browsing history. Also your client may not know there are hidden cameras around their house or office.
All of these challenges take an emotional toll on them. Anxiety, exhaustion, paranoia, the feeling of being isolated, and anger are some of the things your client may experience.
Proactive steps, where applicable, can help you client gain control, where they can, over their situation.
If your client is facing issues like those above, they need support to help them through it.

Real-World Scenarios
Surveillance: Because of our experience in counter surveillance, we drew up plans and processes, along with creating an affordable tool kit, for our client. These resources were used to help them find GPS tracking devices, and other surveillance tools, that their soon-to-be ex spouse used. To communicate with our client we set up a proxy to send and receive critical information.
Online threats and harassment: One particular case included our attorney client engaging us to collect and forensically preserve social media posts. These posts were harassing and threatening in nature to their client. The findings were successfully submitted as evidence.
Device and account security: We’ve had attorneys send their clients our way. These clients feared, even after the divorce was finalized, that their ex spouse would attempt to gain access to their devices and accounts. We sat with these clients to secure their devices and accounts. We also provided them education on social engineering so that they could confidently determine if certain messages they received were phishing attempts.
